The box ... A Christmas Tale

Merry Christmas!

We were up early with the kids opening gifts. They had a blast! I have some great pictures but the excitement was a little much for my youngest and during nap time while the other two played I got to play in my scrap area. I decided to make a box. Yep simple as that sounds I made one using my Fiskar's blade, cutting mat and a ruler. Still can't get enough of my BoBunny paper and it was perfect!

So I have been eyeing the new cartridge by Close to my Heart. I wanted this cartridge to make these boxes but took a look at the booklet and tried my hand. Not too bad.
I love how it turned out! Now to finish the inside! My little guy is up and although he is playing right beside me with his trucks. It is a little distracting! He is too cute not to stop and play with.

We moved the toy room and my craft area around so now I can watch the kids play or jump on their trampoline and craft. Charlie has taken to playing with his cars on the top of my desk, everyone is happy :)

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas family pictures are up!

Last weekend I printed off my family pictures taken at Barb Weir Photography. Combine it with this amazing  sketch from Karan from Sketchabilities and the chance to win a 25$ gift card from Scrappin' Great Deals (MY FAVORITE STORE) and got to cut up some of my new Carta Bella Paper and voila!

Star cuts, banners and some fussy cutting. Lots of inking and layering.

Christmas Day is a very nice collection to work with! The colors are very rich! I love it!

Merry Christmas!

Break out the BoBunny ...

It has been such a long time since I've scrapped and even longer since I've blogged. Today, I decided I needed to scrap. To relax and get creative. It is also the third time this year that I have gotten the shingles and it was suggested a little R&R.  It has been a crazy time with work, kids, school and just life in general. And after an afternoon of scrappin' and I am feeling great.

This past November we had our family pictures taken by Barb Weir Photography. I have tones of beautiful pictures to scrap. And these pictures are perfect! So perfect ... that I broke out my "kept" BoBunny collection. Anyone that knows me, knows how I love my BoBunny and normally keep the paper and do not touch it. Well these pictures were calling out to me to use this! I based my page on Creative Scrappers Sketch 238.

This is one of our casual pictures.
I used my Martha Stewart punch, Close to my Heart Cricut Cartridge, Fiskar's circle punch. Tim Holtz ink, a few buttons and some really cute wooden snowflakes that were left over from one of my SGD kits that Lori had put together.

Fussy cutting, inking, distressing and layering, I enjoyed taking my time and getting back into crafting.
I love hidden journalling so my tags can all be popped out and recorded some of the fun moments of this shoot.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Have a great Christmas! xoxo

Memories

Happy Monday! A quick post before heading off to the park with the kids! The weather is beautiful, the air is crisp and fresh! It has been a long, sticky, humid summer! Which is why I love FALL! So today's layout is based on the sketch by Once Upon A Sketch and the focus is season.

The challenge on the BoBunny blog is white spaces. Which is very hard for me to do! So using the fall harvest collection (still one of my favorites) I created this page of my middle son Casey.

For my back layers I used BoBunny Market place papers. Then layered my picture with leaves created with my Close to my Heart cricut cartridge again with Harvest papers. I did some distressing and inking to give the crisp look.

In keeping with the journaling aspect of Once Upon A Sketch I created a little card on the top left hand corner that I am going to print and insert. (Holiday weekend I am out of ink for my printer and everything is closed!... argh) I can't tell you were the memories sticker comes from I'm still trying to go through my stash and found this cute sticker but don't know who's... oops sorry! But hope you are enjoying a fabulous Monday!Off to play outside with the kids!

More Kaiser ... Please

Well I think everyone knows I am addicted to sketches! I love love love them! and more than sketches I love my paper! So I was thrilled when I got my hands on every line of Kaisercraft! And although pink and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things I love how the tigerlilly collection catches the eye! and yes there is pink! So using the August sketch from the Scrapbook Kits with a Difference blog. Came up with the below.

I still can't believe how much I love this paper. I used some of my Kaisercraft stamps, and my favorite butterfly MS punch.

With the left overs I made some Thank you cards.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great long weekend! I am off to scrap again!

Yummy Papers

A few weeks ago I went to craft with some very talented ladies! The Diva's of SGD! and well the Kaiser Kraft paper looked so yummy I couldn't help by almost every collection! And decided to try my hand at the Saturday Sketch based on the below.

and here is what I did!

I fell in love with this line Sweet Nothings! I did lots of fussy cutting although you might not see it from this shot. I used my Creative Memories Cricut cartridge to make the extra add ons and then my favorite MS punch, lots of inking too!

Thanks for looking!

10 pictures!!!

I am normally a one picture kinda girl, for a layout and typically I don't do so well with double layouts.  Well not today! MME has a challenge to use 10 pictures in a layout! And after seeing Creative Scrappers Sketch 219 decided to give it a go!

And this is what I came up with!

I mixed On the Bright Side and Quite Contrary paper line to come up with this page. I love the colors! and actually managed to make this whole page only using MME! This is of my middle son Casey that is always smiling or giggling. Sheila at SGD right now is having a great paper sale! Take a look! I don't normally like cutting out my pictures or cutting them down. But I dropped my pictures off to be printed and never paid attention to how they would be formatted and so I ended up with a lot of different sizes and cut off heads. So  I am trying to use those up so I am just not throwing them away. Thanks for stopping by!

Where did it go???

Well it has been more than a few weeks that I have been missing. With summer, job, kids, activities and a missing mojo I've ignored my little blog. There are just not enough hours in the day.

But last week I spend some time with some fabulous ladies at SGD and looks like I've found myself this week.

So I am trying my hand at Creative Scrappers Sketch 218.

and this is my take on the sketch.

Using Welcome Home Paper and some American Craft cardstock I did lots of layering and some distressing. I also got a new stamp set from SGD and love playing with them. I love using the scribbles! I think I bought ten packs of these puppies and never wanted to use them because I love them so much! But it is now time.

This page is about the first month we had Sophie home with us. The last few months of pregnancy were long and we told ourselves that we would celebrate the whole month when she finally arrived! Well here she is!

MME challege!

Off to play with the kids! Hope you are enjoying the afternoon! On the MME blog the challenge is to use The challenge is simple: use "masculine" colors or embellishments on a girl page, or use "feminine" colors and accents on a boy page. Therefore, I chose a picture of my daughter and using Kraft card stock used MME blue and yellow colored paper for my layout. I added banners/buttons and tried to stick to hard edges for this layout. I also inked all my corners with black ink to give it more of a bold look. The page layout was inspired by one of Alda's mojo Monday's sketch at the Flying Unicorn! I also added some hidden journaling

Creative Scrappers & Bo Bunny!

Happy Sunday! Today is the perfect day to scrap as the rain is coming down in sheets! So I'm taking a little time to post a few things that I've been working on. The month of May has flown by! Maybe because of the great weather the family and I are getting some outdoor time! Hubby and I have taken the kids out on their bikes a few times and they love it! So when I saw Kristine's sketch on the Bo Bunny blog it was a match made in heaven. After spending a beautiful Sunday afternoon taking the kids to bike parks we settled in for a nice quiet evening where I could scrap. Here is Kristine's sketch

Here is what I created using BoBunny on the Go!

I love the road signs, gears and bright colors! i did some inking and distressing and popped some of the signs with foam squares. At the time I created this I did not have the pictures of the kids on their bikes.

I stamped the title "A work in progress" as their biking skills are a work in progress :)But they had fun! And I am sad to report I have yet to print the pictures up...ooops!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great afternoon!

Mother's Day Album

Happy Mother's Day!

I have been MIA the last couple of weeks but so much has happened! Charlie was released from the hospital and recovery was slow. I started a new position and received a promotion which has been consuming most of my time in the last couple of weeks as there is a lot to learn but I LOVE IT! Easter came and went and it was a busy time with beautiful weather! Which meant that the new bikes purchased for the kids were now being taken on road trips with us. The nicer weather also meant later nights out playing with the kids and friends. I also got to meet for the first time my scrappy sweets and take a  Karan Gerber class. And now here is mother's day and an album I made for my mom. This album is especially meaningful to me as my mother is not only a great mom but one of my most cherished friendships. I don't get to spend a lot of time with her however she is always there. I have taken a total of three classes since I've started scrapbooking and I have found that all have influenced me. My first class was by Lori with fussy cutting and now find myself almost fussy cutting a lot of my pages. My second class was with JoAnn from Bobunny on how to make a mini album. And the last call was with Karan Gerber and we made an awesome layout. (working on putting that post together) all at SGD!

Now this album for me was an interesting one and challenging. 1st, she loves for everything to match. 2nd lots of clutter on a page is not for her. 3rd loves to see the picture and it should not be too busy. 4th does not like to have waste. So ..... here is what I came up with.

My cover page was inspired by Creative Scrapper sketch 207. Now you will notice none of my pages have titles. The reason for this, my album is for my mother and I wanted to give her the creative control of what pictures and title she wanted. *with the exception of one page*, but we'll get to that later :)

The paper is from BoBunny surprise surprise! I used some trinkets fussy cutting of all the elements and inked in black the edges. I love the current trend of black base but trying to keep it simple I did mostly inking.
My base for the album is a mini album from BoBunny. inking all the edges in a dark color.
My next page again using BoBunny paper and Creative Scrappers #208 as inspiration.I did some back ground stamping, inking and added a few drops here and there.

I had tried to pop the front squares.

Creative Scrappers Sketch 206 was the inspiration for this page. Fussy cutting, layering, inking and up cycling.
You can never have too many butterflies.
As Lori always says practice practice practice! Andrea look at my pearls!
Page Maps is now 6! and my book page was inspired by Becky's sketch!
Flying Unicorn-Mojo Monday, Shona one of my biggest inspirations joined their DT team. And let me tell you there are some very talent people there. I've been on the quiet side the last couple of weeks but looking forward to playing again! But look at this sketch!!!
I flipped the elements of the sketch to come up with this page. I added bling at the bottom of the page. Upcycled with my encyclopedia paper, fussy cut everything and inked the edges.
The sketched by Kristine used for this page was actually for one National Scrapbooking Day. That I missed the deadline for. There was the chance to win a year's subscription to Scrapbook and Cards today. Which is always a great read! Recently Becky Fleck had a great article on upcycling. I have a set of old encyclopedia's that no one wants (not ever our local library and schools wanted) in which I'm using in my pages. So the butterflies are actually from those pages :)
I also used my Bobunny & Kaiser stamps.
One of my favorite stamps
This page is my oops page. Only once I had finished putting everything together that I realized that the little circle with the butterflies were upside down.

he he he
This was actually my second page created for my album and I had added the picture and the journalling. As I was talking to my mom one day she made mention of maybe one day I could make her an album that she could added pictures to herself. So being that this album was already started I chose to leave this one page as I had created it.
this picture is from 1979 when I was 3 months, with my mom, grand mother and great grand mother.
to the left I included some journalling that I will keep private (this time).
Banners have been very popular this year and figured I would try it out.
This page was inspired by Karan Gerber's Sketchabilities #70. I was lucky enough to admire her from a distance at the BoBunny mini class but then actually had enough guts to talk to her during one of her classes! Ask any one of my scrappy friends I go a little nuts when I meet someone I've been stalking...ah uh I mean following.
Becky Fleck is also having a sketch contest on her blog to win. I'm not sure if this page would qualify as there are no pictures attached but the whole album is to celebrate my special bond/friendship with my mother. so you never know.

Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my blog and taking the time to read. I know there is a lot in this posting with various links. But these sites and wonderful & creative people are those that inspire me. And because of your talent, creativity and how you share them with me came this gift to my very special friend and mother. Happy Mother's Day!
